Tour Options

  • We provide tours throughout the year.

  • Standard tour duration is 1hr 30mins.

  • Children under 12 years old are free with each paying adult.

  • Tours require a minimum of two people.

  • Group tours and private tours are available for up to 20 people.

  • Group tours can be tailored for elderly/less mobile guests. 

  • Commercial tour operators, please contact us for a wholesale rate.

Tour Outline

Allow about 60 minutes for the tour and a further 30 minutes for tastings. A warning that once we get started talking about avocados, you’ll have a hard time shutting us up, so if we’ve run over time and you need to shoot off, that’s all good.

Here’s an overview of what you can expect from your tour.

  • A very warm welcome followed by the mandatory health & safety briefing.

  • Learn about our journey to become avocado growers and the history of this orchard.

  • An overview of avocado growing in New Zealand.

  • A brief history of avocados and the global context.

  • Information on the nutritional and health benefits of this superfood.

  • As we stroll the orchard you’ll observe and learn about these amazing trees and their unique characteristics, including:

    • The various stages of their development and fruit production

    • Seasonal orchard and tree management activities

    • Harvesting and post-harvest activities

    • Bees and pollination (the superstars)

  • Watch a live Hydralada demonstration, a very unique piece of equipment used in avocado orchards.

  • Spot the local wildlife that we share the orchard with.

  • Learn about the many uses of avocado beyond the traditional ‘smashed on toast’ and guacamole.

  • Get to taste some delicious avocado treats.

  • For any kids and families, we have some special young (and young at heart) activities to keep everyone entertained.
